West Van Family Place
The goal of West Van Family Place is to meet the needs of parents, caregivers, and young children by providing a caring, safe, and welcoming environment where they can play, learn and connect.
West Van Family Place operates as a drop-in program Monday-Friday mornings at the new West Vancouver Community Centre and offers a play time session for dads and grandpas on Saturday mornings. All sessions include play activities that promote early learning and build family relationships. The program also provides parenting support and education around child development, good parenting practices, and the attachments between child and caregiver.
Family Drop In: (Monday to Friday 9:00am to 12:00noon)
Play Time with Dad or Grandpa: (Saturday 9:00am - 10:30am)
Parents and caregivers are invited to join their children (infant to age 6) in playing, making new friends, trying new activities, and accessing information about parenting. There is a drop In Fee of $5 per family.
West Van Family Place Resources and Staff
Family Place maintains a library of parenting books and articles available to be checked out by program participants. A Family Support Worker is available twice a week and guest speakers are brought in to speak provide child development, parenting, health and community information.
Staff are experienced and highly qualified Registered Clinical Counsellors with backgrounds working with children and families. They also have Early Childhood Education (E.C.E.) and Family Resource Programs certification.
West Vancouver Family Place is located at 2121 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. The space is located on the ground floor of the West Vancouver Community Centre, north side adjacent to the youth lounge. Parking is available underground off of Gordon Avenue, in the plaza north of the Centre or on the street.
