Youth Residential Programs
Hollyburn Family Services contracts with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Service Society (VACFSS) and Ayas Men Men Child and Family Services (Squamish Nation) to provide therapeutic care, stabilization, assessment and treatment for youth aged 13-18. Services with Aboriginal children are provided consistent with First Nations traditions and culture.
Our programs provide youth with a home environment staffed by caring professionals to support and stabilize their mental, emotional and behavioural well-being so they can reach their developmental potential and increase the quality of their lives. All of our programs have 24 hour staffing, and provide a safe, consistent and nurturing environment for the youth.
While it is understood that the best place for a child or youth to grow and achieve their developmental potential is within their own family environment, it is sometimes necessary to provide alternative supportive settings for children and youth when they find themselves in circumstances where being in the family home is not safe, or is detrimental to their emotional and developmental wellbeing.
The therapeutic approach for each youth is individually designed to build positive adaptive competencies that can overcome the impact of trauma and includes consultation with the youth, his/her family, and his/her community to ensure a safe, caring and supportive process.
